Cronite's simplified security printing philosophy
There
are many features to analyze when trying to make the most secure document for
the money available: design, production techniques, ink and paper. As no one
feature can provide complete security, it is important to have strong overt
features of positive authenticity which can be immediately identifiable by the
observer. Of all the security techniques, intaglio printing is considered the
best value for the highest security: this is demonstrated by the fact that
intaglio is used for all currency printing.
Cronite offers production techniques and ink/supplies that are of superior value for creating avert as well as covert intaglio security features. Both our sheet fed and form fed flat stamping intaglio presses offer the following advantages:
very low initial cost;
can produce intaglio with and without ink;
capable of foil stamping.
Moreover, Cronite flat stamping presses have several key advantages over the traditional rotary intaglio press:
the cost of the equipment is about 5% of the price of a rotary press;
Cronite presses do not require the use of oil based heat viscosity reducing inks, which mandate shallow engraved lines of only 120 microns;
Cronite presses can print from plates as deep as 2000 microns;
either oil or faster drying acrylic inks can be used;
brilliant gold, silver and metallic inks can be used;
the press can operate with six colors at the same time, using different security inks (some of which have never yet been seen, and which cannot be reproduced by any method than by our system).
This Cronite system can operate at speeds in excess of 5000 impressions per hour and is extremely versatile, flexible and inexpensive, and is therefore the best addition which can be made to a security printing business.
